The Bacheliers
In January of 2010, a devastating earthquake radically changed the lives of thousands already living in the “poorest” nation in the Western Hemisphere. Little did we know, that same earthquake would also change our lives. Our Haiti journey begins there.
As a family of three, missions was something we chose to make a part of our lives when Tanner was just two. Gaston and I, along with our little blonde-headed, blue-eyed toddler, took our first short term trip to Mexico. God sealed in our hearts a desire to serve Him and to share His son with whomever we could. God changed our perspective on how we should live.
However, we had no desire and had never even spoke about packing up our clothes, shoes, and basic essentials, leaving all that felt safe and secure behind, and moving to a Third World country. God, though, had been preparing us. He knew way before we did that Haiti would become our home.
Here we are almost seven years later, now a family of fourteen, living out this Haiti life. Our hearts desire is still to share Jesus with whomever we can. We don’t always get it right, but we choose to press on toward the goal and run this race!

I am 23 years old and in 11th grade. I would like to go to college and become an engineer. My favorite color is blue and I pretty much love all food, I am not picky! My biggest fear is probably sicknesse and earthquakes. If I could change one thing in my country it would be the cultural beliefs that influence even our spirituality. Growing up I had never experienced a celebration of my birthday, so when I had my first birthday party, that is my favorite memory!
Makendy
I am 22 years old and in 11th grade. My hope is to go to college for a degree in business management and become a personal trainer. I enjoy cooking, and my favorite food is a cheeseburger and fries. I love the color blue, and rap is my go-to music. My closest friend is Tanner, and I miss him a lot. I am scared to death of rats, and if there is one thing I could change about my country it would be poverty and homelessness!
Rodrigue
I am Rodrigue and am 18 years old. I am in 10th grade and plan on attending college so that I can become a dentist. I love the colors black and white, and love to eat hamburgers, legume, rice and sauce pwa. I love listening to and writing rap music. I am afraid of snakes and the dark. If I could change one thing about my country it would be the poverty. I love that in my family we all get celebrated on our birthdays! Really, the holidays are a lot of fun!

My name is Ralph and I am 9! My best friend is Stanley and my favorite color is red! When I grow up I want to save the world because I will be Superman! My favorite thing to eat is ice cream and I am afraid of heights! My very favorite animal is a crocodile because it keeps babies safe from predators. My favorite memory is when we celebrated Christmas as a big family!
Marvens
My name is Marvens and I am finally six years old! My favorite color is still green and I love Batman. When I grow up I want to be Flash Gordon because I will be so fast and get to see my best friend very quickly at school! Hot dogs are my favorite food and my best friends are Dad, Bubba, Stanley, Ralph and Wyler. My favorite animals are zebras because they are black and white like my family! My favorite memories are playing the Wii with my dad and Bubba and slapping each other! I also love giving my mom flowers and plastic heart rings because she loves them!
Anaika
I am 9 years old and love to smile. Actually, my smile brings light into the darkest of places. I freak out when I get to eat sweet stuff. I love to be spun around with my head and arms flying. I have giggle fits when I get really tired.
Stanley
I am Stanley James and am almost 9, but I am still just 8! I love the color blue and my favorite things to eat are pizza, cheeseburgers, French fries, rice and sauce pwa. When I grow up I want to be Spiderman to help save people. He is so cool, has Spidey sense, can web, and has stick em’ power! My very best friends are my Bubba, Evelyn, my Mom and Tank my dog. I am afraid of thunderstorms, tsunamis and crocodiles under the bed. I love celebrating Christmas and one of my favorite memories is going to the beach resort and eating the wiggly stuff in the plastic cups (jello)!

I am 17 years old and in the 7th grade. My very favorite color is pink. I love to play basketball and watch movies. One day I would like to be a doctor and help take care of other people.
Hi, I am Marcline, but everyone calls me CiCi. I love to play soccer and have been on a team for the past three years. My favorite colors are green and black, and I enjoy Christian music. My favorite foods are beef and plantains. One day I hope to work in Agronomy. My biggest fear is the darkness. If I could change one thing in my country I would change how the people think. My favorite memory has been getting to have a Christmas celebration as a family!
My name is Rose-Carine, but I go by Caillou. I am almost 18 and a mom to my 1-year old daughter, Esther. My favorite colors are pink and green and I like to listen to Christian music. One day I hope to be a doctor, and if I could change one thing here in Haiti it would be changing cultural beliefs that are just superstition or not true. I love to eat, and my favorites are plantains and goat! I am afraid of few things, but sickness scares me the most. I love celebrating holidays like New Year’s Eve!
